Nine year-old SRF’s Silver Sundown, is an awesome
horse! His temperament and intelligence are unsurpassed.
Silver is the horse of choice for the novice or amateur
rider regardless of the discipline because he is so easy
going and responsive. He’s willing, gentle,
and calm. He is one of our favorite horses to
ride on trails and to compete with in the show ring.
He can demonstrate the brilliance that attracts the
Judge’s attention then come right back to the walk like he’s
out for a Sunday stroll.
SRF’s Silver
Sundown rose to top honors in 2012 at the RMH & KMSHA
International, and the UMH World Show when he was awarded
the Open Western Grand Championship title in all
three associations. He was also ridden by
his owner, Steve Heuslein, to Regional Trail and Regional
Amateur Trail World Show wins. When year-end
accomplishments were tallied, Silver was awarded first place
High Point awards for Adult Trail Obstacle, Adult
Versatility, and Stallions Trail Pleasure. Over the
years SRF’s Silver Sundown has also earned High Point
Awards in the Amateur division, Trail Pleasure
Championship, and for the High Money Horse.
While he is a very accomplished show ring competitor, he
excels in many disciplines and in a variety of venues.
Silver is a two time over-all High Point winner in his
division the Three Phase Event. It is a competition
which combines dressage, stadium obstacle, and cross country
scores. He also received the AGMH High Point Horse Award
at this event as well as the KMSHA Dressage award. Silver
does a beautiful job at the American Competitive Trail Horse
Association (ACTHA) rides – his trainer, Charlie DeAtley
received a perfect score at the last competition.
At the RMHA International in 2010, Silver captured the
coveted Rea Swan Versatility Award by winning his
Conformation, Western, and Under Saddle classes. That
same year, Silver attained American Gaited Mountain Horse
Platinum status for both Under Saddle and Versatility
accomplishments. These awards led to Silver’s induction
into the American Gaited Mountain Horse Hall of Fame.
Very few horses have risen to this level. What an
accomplishment!
You won’t find a more versatile horse than SRF’s Silver
Sundown. Through the years Silver has had a multitude of
fabulous experiences. He’s a winner in every venue –
trail, show, versatility, and on and on. He’s won in the
show ring, he’s a winner on the trail, and he has even shown
that winning attitude as the lead horse for the Mountain
Rhythm Riders Drill Team where he demonstrated his
willingness and talent.
His progeny are now under saddle and mirror their sire’s
traits. Silver is the “complete package.” An evenly
timed four beat gait, intelligence, temperament,
conformation and that gorgeous chocolate color help make him
all you could want as the sire of your next foal. On the
trail, in the show ring, or in the breeding shed, Silver
performs like a true champion.
